Each of our instructors must be well-trained in the Arts they are teaching and be trained in teaching those arts. They must complete our instructors’ college, serve in an apprentice program, and pass background security checks. They must certify under the international PAI association and continue to certify in all these areas as long as they wish to represent Shaolin Arts in any professional capacity.

What Style Or Type Of Art Is Best?

Shaolin Arts has always provided a complete program because that’s what works. Kicks, punches, stances, defense, grappling, chin na, offense, chi, healing, philosophy, health, sport, street, weapons, etc. Some individuals come in for just one piece or style of the Arts, which is fine, but we like to teach the entire program when possible. It’s fun, it’s real, and it works. Let us know, and we will set up the best program for your interests and needs.

How Safe Is It?

Shaolin Arts studios pride themselves on their excellent safety record. Far more injuries occur in so-called non-contact sports, such as basketball. You do not have to be hurt, nor hurt another, to learn good martial arts, self-defense, kung fu, or Tai Chi. The Arts were designed to make you healthier and more robust, not weaker.

This place has been here for decades. I grew up across the street from it. As kids, we used to hide and yell at the practitioners as they practiced in the parking lot. Mimicking their weird sounds. I once went in there with some friends, where the instructor to convince us to join. He told us he would train us in different styles, Tiger, Monkey, etc. It was really weird. Needless to say, we never signed up for classes.

Studying Kung Fu at Shaolin Arts has been a life changing experience for me. As a business owner and a dad with a busy schedule I wasn't taking the time to focus on myself both mentally and physically. Sifu Johnson and the other students at the Sandy Studio have challenged me over the last year and a half to push myself, and strive for a higher level of balance and harmony. I've been studying Kung fu here for over 10 years. The instructors are fantastic and keep classes fun and motivating. They are very knowledgeable and are able to help each person in the way they need. There is a fun energy to classes and it’s a good group of people who come. There is always something new to learn. A few years ago I started doing Tai Chi too. It’s helped me to be less stressed and more focused. It’s helped reduce the migraines that I get. The instructor’s work with you where you are and still motivate you to get better. I highly recommend to anyone interested in learning martial arts.
